White Dwarf 498 – Multiplayer Missions and a Rogue Trader for Combat Patrol

The March issue of everyone’s favourite Warhammer periodical will be available very soon, and we’ve been flicking through the pages of our preview copy with great enthusiasm.

White Dwarf 498 starts with a brisk stroll through the Bunker, which provides a new scenario for both Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar, as well as new mission for Combat Patrol games and a report on the first phase of the studio’s War Zone Bastior Crusade.

Eidelwynne VanTarrion is the first Rogue Trader to get stuck into Combat Patrol, at the head of VanTarrion’s Voidsmen – putting the Rogue Trader retinue and Imperial Navy Breachers from Kill Team to good use in this fast and accessible Warhammer 40,000 game mode – datasheet cards included!*

There are also rules for three and four-player games of Combat Patrol, and six missions designed to work with these increased player counts. Warhammer 40,000 coverage this issue extends to the deeds of Lieutenant Titus, and Kill Team rules for the Blades of Khaine.

The Warhammer Age of Sigmar half of Tale of Four Warlords reaches its penultimate instalment as our generals add some monstrous miniatures to their armies, just in time for the Gathering of Might Battlepack, which brings rules and two missions for 3,000+ point games that take place on whopping 44×96″ tables, for truly epic confrontations.

There’s more Mortal Realms goodness to be had, as Ark Arcana takes stock of the fearsome creepy crawlies that inhabit the depths of Gallet. Baron Veingulper returns to Ulfenkarn for the second half of a new Warhammer Quest: Cursed City sidequest, and Warcry players can get their hands on Mawpit terrain rules and warband quests for the Wildercorps Hunters and Gorger Mawpacks to use while carving up the Gnarlwood.

This issue features a Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game™ battle report in which Aragorn and his armies attempt to draw Sauron’s gaze away from Mount Doom as Frodo and Sam reach the scalding terminus of their journey, while things are rounded out by the third exciting instalment of Jon Flindall’s Tome Keepers tale, Legacy of Defiance.

March - MTG promo raffle!

We run several MTG events at KD Games over the course of a month and for most of those events, players have the option to enroll on the Eventlink system using their MTG Companion app. Not only does this save us time on entering details manually and give us a good idea on who might be attending in advance of the event it also increases the amount of promotional material that the shop receives.

So to thank all of those that have taken the time to download the app and use it for our events we will be running a monthly MTG raffle.

Every time a player enrolls for an event using the MTG Companion app, that player will receive a single ticket for that month. At the end of the month we will randomly select a three tickets to receive a prize.

This month the prizes are a promo copy of Green Sun's Twilight, a promo copy of Elder Brain, a promo copy of Champion of the Perished, a promo copy of Mishra's Foundary and a Lost Caverns of Ixalan Promo Pack.

Ticket numbers will be published on discord and 3 random numbers will be generated. Once confirmed players will be able to pick up their prizes the next time they come to the shop. (no player will be able to win two prizes - duplicate numbers will be regenerated)

Murders at Karlov Manor Commander Party

What is the Commander Party Format for Murders at Karlov Manor?

Each player in a pod of four receives one copy of the Party Card: a case file with a dotted line down the middle, which players will fold in half before starting the game.

During the Commander Party, all players will be tasked with solving a mystery—which guild the other culprits at the table belong to. They'll fold their Party Cards along the dotted line, and secretly circle two guilds inside the card.

Then, at the end of each turn, if a Commander has been cast during the game, players may ask the opponent to their left a yes-or-no question about their selected guilds. If the answer is yes, they'll select a Retainer—a small in-game bonus—from the two listed on the back of the card.

If the player successfully guesses both guilds, they claim the Reward for solving the case, and they no longer ask questions for the rest of the game.

Disney Lorcana: Into The Inklands is the third chapter of Disney’s new trading card game that gives you a fresh outlet to play with your favorite Disney characters and create epic crossovers.

We have boosters, booster boxes, troves, gift sets and new starter decks all in stock now, but if you want anything I would hurry as it is likely to sell pretty fast!!!

Tiny Turbo Racers

This week we have added a new game to our rental catalogue...

"Tiny Turbo Cars is a frantic race game for 2 to 4 players in which you program the movements of your tiny toy car in advance, with a sliding puzzle acting as your remote controller.

Choose your car, grab your remote controller, create the track, and get ready to race! At the beginning of each round, players have to work their way through their sliding puzzle controllers simultaneously, trying to create the sequence of actions they want their car to perform during the round.

Each symbol on the puzzle corresponds to one of the possible actions — but only the two middle rows of commands on your controllers will be applied, so there's room for maneuvers, but be quick! The first player to put down their controller will be the first to move their car during the round. Each player then executes the program they created, and the sooner you play during a round, the safer you are that your actions will actually play out as planned rather than crashing into unexpected obstacles...or other cars!

But trying to be quick might also increase your chances of making mistakes, and every time you take damage, you lose battery power, which will slow you down. But hey, mistakes happen, right? You can always recharge and be back in the race.

This is a fierce race, with pitfalls around every corner and unscrupulous adversaries! Don't miss your chance to shoot your missiles at your opponents — before they hit you! The first player to cross the finish line wins!"
