Hero Clix at KD Games

This Thursday as part of our Thursday Night Tournaments (TNT) we held a Heroclix event. We played 300 points with no other build restrictions and after three hours of fun and three rounds we eventually had our winner. Congratulations to Vince who was unbeaten on the night.

The Merc with a Mouth comes back to the tabletop with friends! Deadpool teams up with X-Force teammate Wolverine along with Negasonic Teenage Warhead from the Mercs for Money! Deadpool and Wolverine have an interesting rapport with each other, with similar powers, but very different personalities! They can work together as a great team or try to tear each other apart. Negasonic Teenage Warhead has the ability to harness radioactive energy to create energy blasts with Pulse Wave and levitate characters or objects with Telekinesis! Win these characters during this Monthly Organized Play series!

Xaviers School

Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters is a special school led by Professor Charles Xavier where young mutants can grow, learn, and control their uncanny powers. See the results of their training on the tabletop with Marvel HeroClix: X-Men Xavier’s School!

Xavier’s School will have the return of ID cards, as well as student and headmaster gameplay. Two all-new title characters are sure to make a splash. You and your friends will be able to build your favorite X-Men teams from over the years – Blue Team, Gold Team, the X-Men led by Magneto, and many more! For even more mutant-mania this set will include more than a handful of previously unclixed figures including Phat, Goldballs, Mondo and Surge!

Heroclix Battle Royale

The HeroClix Battle Royale Format is a special type of draft tournament designed for quick play. A typical Battle Royale takes place with 4 players, each with one sealed booster.

The players draft their potential forces as a normal draft, selecting one figure from their pack and passing the remaining figures to the player on their left, continuing until each player has five figures. 

There are no restrictions on force construction and each player uses all of the game elements they draft, unless specified ahead of time. Each player is responsible for verifying the other players’ teams are legal.

Standard Battle Royale Maps are 2’x2’ with each player starting in a corner. This is a free-for-all event in which each player is opposing to each other player. Play continues until an action resolves in which all players but one no longer control any characters, or until time has expired. The player with the most KO points total is the winner.

At the conclusion of the game, players will return the figures they used for the event to the center of the map to create a prize pool to which additional prizes may be added. Players will snake draft and select their prizes with the winning player choosing first.

Originally planned for early February the set we have all been waiting for is finally going to be with us next week.

Provisionally we have book the Royal British Legion for a prerelease event next Friday, the 17th. Unfortunately I will not be able to confirm the event details until next Wednesday, but for now put the date in your dairy and let either Elliot or myself know that you are interested in taking part.

Hero Clix Open

Back at the beginning of February we held our very first Hero Clix Open.

All the players were amazing and made it areal pleasure to organise. We had 17 players which meant we had 4 rounds of swiss followed by a top 8 cut.

National Championship QualificationsFor every eight players entered into the event (rounded up), one player earns a 2016-2017 HeroClix National Championship Qualification. If a player is already qualified, their qualification passes down to the next highest ranked player who does not already have a qualification.

KD Games was selected to host the DC Comics HeroClix: The Joker’s Wild! Pre-Release, and details will be published soon.
 
The event will be hosted jointly by KD Games and South Coast Hero Clix.

New Maps

Next week, WizKids will release four new Collector’s Premium HeroClix Maps for use with its popular collectible miniatures game.

All four maps are manufactured from flexible neoprene, creating a flat playing surface without folds and a no-slip backing. Each map is three feet by two feet, and has a square grid printed over the terrain sized for HeroClix models. They are all “tournament legal” maps.

The four maps will be the Gaming Convention, WizKids Office, Center Plaza, andParking Garage.

WIZKIDS ANNOUNCES 'THE SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN'

WizKids plans to release a new expansion for its long-running HeroClix collectible miniatures game 

this July, called The Superior Foes of Spider-Man.

As the title suggest, the new expansion set focuses on the friendly neighborhood web-slinger and his many super-villian enemies. Both classic and modern foes make up this set, including the Serpent Society.

The Superior Foes of Spider-Man will include a total of 70 new collectible figures with the following rarities: 16 common (with 1 Prime), 16 uncommon (1 Prime), 16 rare (1 Prime), 12 super rare (1 Prime) and 6 Chase figures. The boosters will be available as Booster Bricks.

Players can jump into the new set with the Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack, which will include six figures, a ClixFX base, and a rules sheet, packaged in a clear clamshell style package. 

Rounding out the new releases will be the Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man Dice & Token Pack. This product will include two custom dice with a Spider-Man icon and a half dozen action tokens featuring the character.

Hero Clix Worlds Finest

World’s Finest (WF#060; Rarity: Super-Rare) features a beautiful sculpt of Batman and Superman together— teamed up to fight side-by-side— and can be played at 75, 200 or 300 points— with 3, 7 or 10 clicks of life respectively.  Looking at their combat & team abilities, we can see that they feature the Wing speed symbol, Duo attack symbol, Indomitable, a 7 range and both the Batman Ally and Superman Ally team abilities.  At all three point costs, this figure has the trait World’s Finest Team that grants them immunity to their powers/abilities being countered or their combat values decreased.  When playing them at either their 200 or 300 point starting lines, they have the trait Good Distraction, Bruce which allows them to make a second attack in a turn if they miss with an attack (so long as they haven’t used the Duo ability in that turn)— because Batman didn’t really miss… it was just a feint to set up Superman.  When played at 300 points, World’s Finest has an additional trait Bruce Will Win At Any Cost that allows them use of the Colossal Stamina ability, but they must take 2 damage instead of 1—a big sacrifice but one that could potentially turn the tide of a game.

Looking at their dial, when played at 300 points, World’s Finest starts off with a combination of Hypersonic Speed, Super Strength and Invincible with an impressive 5 natural damage.  When played at 200 points, World’s Finest starts with a combination of Running Shot and Impervious and picks up both Outwit and Hypersonic Speed later in the dial.  When played at 75 points, World’s Finest starts with a combination of Charge, Super Strength, Close Combat Expert and a Defense Special Power Bruce Tells Me When to Dodge and When to Take the Hit which grants them Combat Reflexes and Toughness.

The new set of Hero CLix DC HeroClix: Word’s Finest set is released this weekend. I will post some images of the recent Prerelease in the coming days along with some of the new figures you can expect to find in the set.
