X-Wing C-Roc Cruiser

"You owe me, remember? I gave you information, and it saved your Jedi friend. I am calling in that favor."
–Cikatro Vizago

The galaxy's Scum and Villainy are about to demand what they are owed. And then they're going to go Epic…

Designed for use in the game's Cinematic Play and Epic Play formats, the C-ROC Cruiser Expansion Pack contains one C-ROC Cruiser miniature, one M3-A Interceptor miniature with an alternate paint scheme, seven ship cards, thirty upgrade cards, and all the maneuver dials, damage decks, tokens, and game pieces that you need to fly your C-ROC Cruiser and its escort to battle. Additionally, the expansion includes a new campaign for Cinematic Play in which your C-ROC draws the ire of either the Galactic Empire or Rebel Alliance.

The C-ROC cruiser was a favorite vessel of traders, smugglers, privateers, and crime lords all across the Outer Rim. It utilized the same frame as the Empire’s Gozanti-class cruiser, but its extra cargo space, three additional engines, and modified armor lent it a distinctive profile. Fitted with weapons and specialized equipment, the C-ROC often served as the workhorse at the heart of both merchant convoys and pirate fleets, hauling cargo, supporting smaller ships, and even flying into the fray to engage enemy craft directly.

The C-ROC Cruiser can also serve as the workhorse of your X-Wing Scum fleet. It can soak a tremendous amount of enemy fire with its four shields and ten hull, especially when you consider that it can make use of the reinforce and recover actions—the first of which can reduce all damage against either its fore or aft sections, and the second of which can remove much of the damage it may suffer. Importantly, it does all this at a base value of just thirty-five squad points, making it a fantastic bargain for a faction that's all about the credits.

Of course, you're not likely to field your C-ROC without one or more upgrades. For starters, you'll probably want to equip a Heavy Laser Turret in order to fire back at your assailants, and then you'll probably find plenty of good ways to take advantage of the ship's many upgrade slots—two crew, one hardpoint, one team, and three cargo.

Even if you're not entirely certain which upgrades will serve you best, you could just load your C-ROC with Cikatro Vizago, Azmorigan, and the Merchant One Title. Taken together, these cards allow you to transform your C-ROC even in the heat of battle, making certain you'll benefit from the most useful upgrades in your collection—so long as they cost no more than the crew, team, or cargo upgrades your C-ROC has already equipped.

The C-ROC and Standard Play
Even though the C-ROC arrives to X-Wing as a huge ship that's too large for the game's Standard Play format, it still arrives at the game's standard 1/270 scale, and it is accompanied by an M3-A Interceptor escort with an alternate paint scheme, four new M3-A aces, and a host of new upgrades. Taken altogether, these tournament-legal materials stand poised to make a major impact upon the game's Standard Play format and its vibrant tournament scene.

The C-ROC Cruiser Expansion Pack comes with one M3-A Interceptor with an alternate paint scheme.

For starters, you'll find a copy of the "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor upgrade reprinted with its recently issued erratum. For just two squad points, this upgrade grants your M3-A Interceptor an extra point of hull, as well as the ability to equip a cannon, torpedo, or missile upgrade. But while the "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor Title has long defined the different ways you could outfit your M3-A Interceptors for battle, the C-ROC Cruiser Expansion Pack also allows you to modify your "Scyk" in an entirely different direction.

The "Light Scyk" Interceptor Title transforms all of the fighter's bank maneuvers to green maneuvers and reduces the ship's squad point cost by two. It does this at the cost of flipping all damage cards dealt to the ship faceup, but since the introduction of the "Light Scyk" Interceptor Title will mean that you can swarm your opponents with as many as eight Cartel Spacers, the "Light Scyk" Interceptor's inherent risk is one many Scum players may be willing to take.

Sabine's Tie Fighter

In this week...

The ubiquitous TIE fighter was one of the Empire’s most common symbols of oppression. When one of these nimble crafts fell into the hands of Rebel saboteur and artist Sabine Wren, she knew exactly how to customize it for use against the Empire. Brilliantly repainted and retooled, the TIE fighter from the Sabine’s TIE Fighter Expansion Pack for X-Wing™ comes with four unique ship cards and six upgrades, including the Sabine’s Masterpiece Title, which allows your Rebels to outfit the ship with crew and illicit upgrades.

X-Wing Wave 9 - Incoming!

"Stay in attack formation!"
–Darth Vader

Set your course. Fly at the enemy. Take aim, and fire!

Next week we will be getting the new wave 9 X-Wing ships from Fantasy Flight

ARC-170 Expansion Pack
Special Forces TIE Expansion Pack
Protectorate Starfighter Expansion Pack
Shadow Caster Expansion Pack

From left to right: ARC-170, Special Forces TIE, Protectorate starfighter, and Shadow Caster

Between these four expansions, you will find zero turrets. Instead, you will find two auxiliary firing arcs, one mobile firing arc, and a starfighter with zero shields… whose pilots practice flying straight at their foes. And there is plenty more to this wave than just its ships. You will also meet Poe's mother, discover new First Order tech, welcome a handful of Mandalorians to the Scum faction, and gain the ability to fly Sabine Wren as a Scum bounty hunter.
ARC-170 Expansion Pack

The Rebel Alliance recovered, repaired, and retrofitted a handful of ARC-170 starfighters during the Galactic Civil War. Though somewhat antiquated, the ship was still a force to be reckoned with, featuring powerful cannons, heavy shielding, and a tail gunner.

The ARC-170 Expansion Pack introduces this starfighter to X-Wing as a somewhat sluggish vessel with six hull, three shields, and one agility. It flies well at slower speeds, but struggles at higher speeds, featuring six green maneuvers at speeds "1" and "2," even while four of its seven higher-speed maneuvers are red.

Meanwhile, as with all the ships in Wave IX, the ARC-170 rewards you for catching your foes within its firing arc, even if that arc is its auxiliary arc. Even though the ARC-170's primary weapon boasts an unmodified value of just "2," you can give it an Alliance Overhaul to boost its attacks from its primary firing arc by one die or to change one result to a whenever you perform an attack from its auxiliary firing arc.

Additionally, the expansion comes with four ship cards that introduce four new aces, including Poe Dameron's mother Shara Bey , who flew as Green Four during the Battle of Endor. Its nine new upgrades allow you to take advantage of the unique pairing of crew and astromech upgrade slots.
Special Forces TIE Expansion Pack

Only the First Order's most elite pilots were authorized to fly this specialized two-seater TIE craft. Outfitted with enhanced shields, weapons, and sensor systems, each Special Forces TIE fighter had a dual heavy laser turret mounted to the bottom of its fuselage. In conjunction with a warhead launcher, this turret made the fighter's weapons far more threatening than the standard TIE/fo fighter's and granted the ship an extra measure of defense against threats to its rear.

Although it looks almost identical to the TIE/fo fighter, the Special Forces TIE is an entirely different vessel, trading away a point of agility in favor of two extra points of shields, and boasting an entirely different maneuver dial.

Moreover, while both ships feature a primary attack value of "2," the comparison between the two ships' offensive capabilities quickly breaks down. First of all, the Special Forces TIE can equip a missile upgrade. Then, more importantly, the Special Forces TIE can equip the Special Ops Training Title for free. Like the Alliance Overhaul for the ARC-170, this upgrade allows you to add an attack die to any attack you make from your primary firing arc. On the other hand, if you choose to forsake the extra attack die, your Special Ops Training makes it possible for you to take shots from both your primary and auxiliary firing arcs in the same round.

To ensure that your squad benefits as much as possible from your Special Forces TIE and Special Ops Training, the Special Forces TIE Expansion Pack introduces four new pilots, including two unique aces, and five upgrades. Notably, since the Special Forces TIE features slots for both a systems and tech upgrades, you will find new cards for both these slots included in the pack.
Protectorate Starfighter Expansion Pack

Also known as the "Fang fighter," the Concord Dawn Protectorate starfighter was a fast and sleek Mandalorian vessel custom-built for fighter combat. Equipped with a hidden torpedo launcher and pivot wings that provided vector thrust control, the Protectorate starfighter lent itself well to its pilots' aggressive approaches. They leveraged their ship's unmatched agility and narrow attack profile to execute the deadly head-on charges of the Concordia Face Off maneuver.

Pulled from Star Wars Rebels and the pages of Star Wars: Kanan, the Protectorate starfighter enters X-Wing as one of the most potent—and most deceptively simple—vessels in the Scum and Villainy fleet. It boasts a healthy and aggressive stat line of three attack, three agility, and four hull, and it grants its pilots access to the focus, target lock, barrel roll, and boost actions.

But while the ship's range of actions and maneuver dial, combined with its lack of shields, suggest that it should be a classic arc-dodger in the vein of the A-wing and the TIE interceptor, its pilots, like Fenn Rau , tend to favor brash, head-on charges. Accordingly, among the expansion's six ship cards and two upgrades, you will find no fewer than four cards that reference "Range 1," and three that reward you for flying straight into your opponent's firing arc.
Shadow Caster Expansion Pack

The signature starship of the young and ambitious bounty hunter Ketsu Onyo, the Shadow Caster was agile and powerful, but lightly shielded, trading heavy ray shielding for speed. In addition to its laser cannons and swivel-mounted, pilot-operated turret, the craft was equipped with a powerful multi-directional tractor beam.

Both the Shadow Caster and Ketsu Onyo make their way from Star Wars Rebels to X-Wing with the Shadow CasterExpansion Pack. They arrive to the Scum and Villainy faction along with four ship cards and twelve upgrades that afford you myriad options for outfitting your Shadow Caster with different crew and illicit upgrade combinations.

Importantly, the Shadow Caster Expansion Pack also introduces some new rules and possibilities to your X-Wingbattles. Instead of a full 360-degree turret, the expansion's Lancer-class pursuit craft comes with a mobile firing arc. Indicated by a token that lays over the ship's base, this mobile firing arc can occupy any of the four quadrants indicated on the ship's base, and a pilot can use the rotate arc action to move it to any other quadrant.

This affords the Shadow Caster some of the advantages of a turret even while preserving a distinctive—and more point-efficient—playstyle, and as you might expect, each of the expansion's three unique pilots can put this mobile firing arc to good use, including the new Scum version of Sabine Wren .

Additionally, the Shadow Caster Expansion Pack and its upgrades allow you to litter the battlefield with debris tokens, upgrade your Shadow Caster with the abilities of each IG-2000 in your squad, and force your opponents to suffer the lingering effect of tractor beam tokens that are not removed during the end phase. In other words, the expansion is going to ensure the Scum faction stays updated with all the most devious tricks.
Meet the Enemy Head-on!

"This is gonna be fun. Very fun."
–Sabine Wren

New X-Wing Lines for August

The details of the next batch of X-Wing ships has been revealed. Due for release some time in August we have...

The ARC-170 Expansion Pack introduces this starfighter to X-Wing™ as a resilient vessel with two attack, an auxiliary firing arc, and both crew and astromech upgrade slots. Additionally, four ship cards introduce Poe Dameron’s mother Shara Bey and three other aces while nine new upgrades permit a wide range of creative configurations.

Only the First Order’s most elite pilots were authorized to fly the specialized TIE craft from the Special Forces TIE Expansion Pack. Outfitted with enhanced shields, weapons, and sensor systems, the ship had a dual heavy laser turret mounted to the bottom of its fuselage. In X-Wing™ this turret empowers the ship to launch a more potent attack from its primary firing arc or to fire from both its primary and auxiliary firing arcs in the same round. In addition to its pre-painted miniature, the expansion also contains four ship cards and five upgrades.

Also known as the “Fang fighter,” the Protectorate starfighter was a fast and sleek Mandalorian craft custom-built for fighter combat. The Protectorate Starfighter Expansion Pack brings this aggressive ship to X-Wing™ as one of the most potent – and most deceptively simple – vessels in the Scum and Villainy fleet with three attack and three agility. Although the ship has no shields, its pilots favor aggressive approaches, meeting their foes in deadly head-on charges. In addition to its pre-painted miniature, the expansion contains six ship cards and two upgrades.
The signature starship of the young and ambitious bounty hunter Ketsu Onyo, the Shadow Caster was agile and powerful, but lightly shielded, trading heavy ray shielding for speed. Both the ship and its pilot make their way to X-Wing™ in the Shadow Caster Expansion Pack, along with three other pilots and twelve upgrades that afford you myriad options for outfitting your Shadow Caster with different crew and illicit upgrade combinations. Finally, the ship boasts a mobile firing arc, which offers some of the advantages of a turret, even while preserving a distinctive – and more point-efficient – play style.
Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, and the heroes of The Force Awakens fight for freedom with the Heroes of the Resistance Expansion Pack for X-Wing™. Featuring new sculpts for the Millennium Falcon and Poe Dameron’s black-and-orange T-70 X-wing, Heroes of the Resistance also expands your fleet with three unique X-wing pilots, as well as new versions of Han Solo and Chewbacca. Meanwhile, the pack’s eighteen upgrades introduce new elite pilot talents, Tech upgrades, and unique Title upgrades for both the Millennium Falcon and Black One.

X-Wing Wave 7

Hound's Tooth
X-Wing Expansion Pack
* Available to Pre-Order *

A modified YV-666 light freighter, Hound’s Tooth was the signature vessel of one of the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunters and slavers, the fearsome Trandoshan Bossk. The Hound’s Tooth Expansion Pack brings this infamous freighter to life as a towering, large-base miniature starship for the Scum and Villainy faction, rendered at the game’s standard 1/270 scale. Naturally, as a skilled bounty hunter, Bossk ensured that there was plenty more to the Hound’s Tooth than first met the eye, and the Hound’s Tooth Expansion Pack also comes with four YV-666 ship cards and thirteen upgrades, including the Hound’s Tooth Title, which allows your YV-666 pilot to survive imminent destruction by escaping aboard the Nashtah Pup, a unique Z-95 Headhunter.

The Hound’s Tooth Expansion Pack also comes with a ship card for the Nashtah Pup, though to fly it, you’ll need the miniature starship from the Most Wanted Expansion Pack or Z-95 Headhunter Expansion Pack. The rules for deploying the Nashtah Pup are covered in the expansion’s rulesheet, which also introduces a new mission, Hunting the Hunter.

Kihraxz
X-Wing Expansion Pack
* Available to Pre-Order *

The Kihraxz assault fighter was developed specifically for the Black Sun crime syndicate, whose highly paid ace pilots demanded a nimble, powerful ship to match their skills. Modeled after Incom’s popular X-wing starfighter, the versatile Kihraxz arrives to X-Wing as a well-rounded, small-base, Scum and Villainy starship with three attack, two agility, four hull, and one shield.

You gain one of these miniature starfighters in the Kihraxz Fighter Expansion Pack, carefully pre-painted and sculpted at the game’s standard 1/270 scale. Additionally, the Kihraxz Fighter Expansion Pack comes with four ship cards, five upgrades, a maneuver dial, and all the tokens you need to fly this fighter into any battle in which the galaxy’s Scum have a vested interest.

K-Wing
X-Wing Expansion Pack
* Available to Pre-Order *

A heavily armed bomber that could double as an escort or reconnaissance vessel, the Rebellion’s K-wing was frequently flown on strafing runs against planetary targets and slow-moving capital ships. In X-Wing, as in Star Wars lore, the K-wing’s surprising acceleration, heavy armor plating, and devastating ordnance make it an outstanding ship for hit-and-run operations. One of the game’s most durable small-base fighters, the K-wing features four shields and five hull, along with a primary turret weapon with an attack value of “2.”

In addition to its pre-painted K-wing miniature, sculpted at 1/270 scale, the K-wing Expansion Pack comes with four ship cards and nine upgrades that feature a massive armament of new missiles, bombs, and torpedoes, as well the Extra Munitions upgrade, which dramatically improves the efficiency of your ordnance.

TIE Punisher
X-Wing Expansion Pack
* Available to Pre-Order *

A beefier version of the TIE bomber, the TIE punisher built upon that starfighter’s success by adding shielding, a second bomb chute, and three additional ordnance pods, each equipped with a twin ion engine. In addition to its miniature TIE punisher, the TIE Punisher Expansion Pack provides Imperial players with four ship cards and a punishing array of nine explosive upgrades, with which you can obliterate your enemies. Like the K-wing Expansion Pack, the TIE Punisher Expansion Pack comes with the Extra Munitions upgrade, allowing you to make the most of your TIE punisher’s two torpedo slots, two missile slots, and two bomb slots. Not only can it carry a slightly larger payload than the TIE bomber, the TIE punisher invites Imperial players to perfect their bombing skills by taking advantage of both its innate boost action and its ability to equip a system upgrade like Advanced Sensors.

With Advanced Sensors, the TIE punisher can boost into position to drop a bomb right in front of an enemy fighter, and then it can immediately perform its maneuver to fly away.

Rebel Aces

Due in tomorrow is the brand new Rebel Aces pack for the Star Wars X-Wing miniatures game...

I only have a very small amount of these so if you want one you will need to be fast. I will have them with me at this week KD Magic Night which is being held at the Royal George as normal from 5pm and if there are any left I will have them in the shop this Saturday.

Friday, 5 September 2014

What comes after 7?

As some of you will be aware I used to have a shop, in fact at one point I had two. We opened number 79 Boundary Road on 7/7/7 and then moved to number 57 High Street in Shoreham three years later. As you can see quite a lot of 7's. Unfortunately I had to close the shop in November last year so clearly 7 is not my lucky number.

So what about I give number 8 ago? Well the garage fom which I have been running the events at the Royal George is number 8 and the events seem to be going pretty well so I think its time to return to the high street...

From week commencing the 8th September we will be trading from number 8 Tarmount Lane in Shoreham.

Before I go any further there are a few things I need to clarify...

Firstly, number 8 is nothing like our other shops.

  • We will be trading under the name of KD Games
  • We will only be selling gaming products (our toys ranges will stay in Tarmount Studio with is very close by)
  • We only have a small space - and I mean really small!
  • We will only be open for a few days a week (more details on opening hours next week)
  • We do not have a playing space.
  • We will still be running FNM events and Tuesday Nights at the Royal George

Although I am not opening until next week, I will be in the shop tomorrow (Saturday) from 2pm to price up the stock - so if your passing please pop in and have a look.
