Transformers Celebration Event

For this weekends Transformers Rise of the Combiners celebration day we will be running either a 4 pack sealed or a 4 pack draft event. The cost will be £15 which ever format we eventually choose but in case people are not familiar with the draft format here are the rules...

Booster Draft
Drafting is a great way for players to enjoy a challenging, dynamic game using unopened Booster Packs. Each draft table should include 4–7 players.

Beginning the Draft
  • Start with 4 unopened booster packs.
  • Arrange players around the table in a random order.
  • Open your booster packs and remove the four Character Cards.
  • Set the 4 sealed packs of Battle Cards aside for now. (Do not open them yet.)
  • Draft the Character Cards, then draft the Battle Cards (More info below).
There are two ways to draft Character Cards: Basic and Advanced. Basic is perfect for less experienced players or those looking for a slightly faster experience. Advanced allows greater strategy and is aimed at more experienced players.

Drafting Character Cards: Basic Rules
Choose a player at random.
Starting with that player and going once around the table clockwise, each player can discard any number of their character cards. To discard a character card, place it on the table where all players can read it.
Draft cards one at a time to replace the ones they discarded. At the end of the character draft, each player will have four character cards. The player who discarded first has first pick, followed by the player to their left, and proceeding clockwise. If a player has four character cards, that player is skipped.

Drafting Character Cards: Advanced Rules
Starting with the player who opened character cards with the most total stars and going once around the table clockwise, each player can discard any number of their character cards. To discard a character card, place it on the table where all players can read it. (If there’s a tie for most total stars, choose one of the tied players at random to discard first.)
Players then draft cards one at a time to replace the ones they discarded. Cards are drafted one at a time, with the player holding character cards with the fewest total stars having the next pick. (If there’s a tie, the tied player who discarded cards first has the next pick.)
Once a player has four character cards, they are done picking character cards and their total stars aren’t counted to determine who has the next pick.

Drafting Battle Cards
Each player opens one pack of 7 Battle Cards.
Pick one Battle Card to keep and put it face down in front of you. Pass the remaining cards to the player on your left. Repeat this until everyone has picked 7 Battle Cards.
Each player opens another Booster Pack. Repeat the drafting, except this time pass the cards to the right after picking one.
For the third Booster Pack, again pass to the left, then back to the right for the final booster pack.

At the end of the draft, players will have four Character Cards and 28 Cattle Cards.

Building Your Team and Deck

Players build their teams from the four Character Cards they have after the draft. The normal 25-star limit applies. If a player ends up with more than one character with the same name, they may play all of them. Character Cards a player picked but aren’t playing are set aside.

Battle Decks must have a minimum of 25 cards. This means players can choose up to 3 of the cards they drafted and not include them in their deck.

Destiny Draft

Coming later this year...

From the galaxy-spanning Clone Wars to the struggle between the First Order and the Resistance, war permeates the universe. Alliances are formed to topple galactic empires, undermine long-standing republics, or simply to ensure their own survival.

Fantasy Flight Games has announced the Allies of Necessity Draft Set for Star Wars: Destiny!

Allies of Necessity features twenty new cards that can be used to supplement your pool of cards and provide a base for your draft or sealed event, while also providing new options in constructed deck building!

Like Rivals before it, players just need a copy of Allies of Necessity and six Star Wars: Destiny booster packs to participate in their very own draft or sealed event! What's more, the cards in your Allies of Necessity Draft Set are completely reusable—no matter how many drafts you play, you'll only ever need to buy a single copy of Allies of Necessity to enable your draft games of Star Wars: Destiny!

Strangers of Valhalla

We have decided to run our delayed Force of Will 'Strangers of New Valhalla as a league event. We started on Thursday with just 3 players and there will hopefully be other joining us in the coming days. Every player will purchase 6 packs and will build a 20 card (minimum) deck to battle the other players with. Once everyone has played everyone else we will have our winner.

Here is an update of the current leaderboard …

Kevin Hearne is in first place with 2 wins and 6 points, Gary is in second with 1 win and 3 points and Chris is currently sitting in third place with no wins. There are some more games planned for this weekend so more updates to follow.
