Promo Cards for Lorwyn Eclipsed

This weekend it is the prerelease for the new MTG set Lorwyn Eclipsed. This will be the first chance for players to get hold of cards for this exciting set which sees the return to one of MTG's most awaited planes.

Over the coming weeks there will be lots of opportunities to get hold of some get promo cards too, here is a list of what to look forward to.

STANDARD SHOWDOWN / FNM

Wield the magic of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor at Lorwyn Eclipsed's Standard Showdown events. Here, you can test out some new Constructed decks featuring new cards from Lorwyn Eclipsed, or you can just get some reps in with your favourite Standard creation. The winner of each Standard Showdown event will receive a traditional foil, retro frame Nowhere to Run promo card featuring art by Jodie Muir while supplies last. We combine our Showdown event with our FNM so it is also when players can get hold of the new prize packs which are awarded to the top four players each week.

LORWYN COMMANDER PARTY

The shifting landscape of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor is as chaotic as it is breathtaking. Adapt to the changing duality of the plane at Lorwyn Eclipsed's Commander Party events! Here, you'll play a modified game of Commander, so bring your own decks or try out one of the Lorwyn Eclipsed preconstructed Commander decks.

You're not just battling your three opponents; you're also battling the frenetic nature of the plane. You'll start the game on Lorwyn. As the game progresses, you'll roll dice to trigger chaotic effects and shift from Lorwyn to Shadowmoor (and vice versa). When you switch to another aspect of the plane, you'll also swap to a separate hand of cards. After all, transforming into your Lorwyn or Shadowmoor self often means losing your memories.

Participants who embrace the nature of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor at Commander Party events will receive the retro frame Farhaven Elf promo card while supplies last. More details to follow on the commander party events closer the time.

STORE CHAMPIONSHIP

Bring your best deck and your fiercest competitive spirit to the table for your local game store's Store Championships! These events feature high-stakes Standard gameplay, where your community's top players will compete for some of the season's most stunning promo cards.

Store Championship participants will receive a non-foil, full-art Goblin Bombardment promo card with art by Jeff Laubenstein while supplies last. Look at that boggart; they're having a great time.
The most energized players who make the Top 8 of each event will earn a traditional foil, full-art Guide of Souls promo card with art by Alexandr Leskinen.
For the paw-sitively amazing players who claim victory at their Store Championship, we have a very special prize. The winner of each Store Championship will receive a traditional foil, full-art, textless Ocelot Pride promo card with art by Rhonda Libbey.

Here is a breakdown of some of the exciting promo's on there way to our players really soon..,

First up, Buy-a-Box

Players who purchase a Magic: The Gathering Marvel's Spider-Man Play Booster box from us are eligible to receive the Buy-a-Box promo card, Spider-Sense, while supplies last. 

Commander Events

For the Spiderman set there will be two different Commander Events. There will be the two headed night and the commander parties. Both of these events will use the Commander promo, Spider-Ham, Peter Porker. 

Magic Academy 

For anyone wanting to learn how to play MTG there will be many opportunities to come into store and learn how to play.  For anyone who comes in for a demo and anyone that brings them to us there is a promo card just for you, which is...

Standard Showdown

These will return during this season and there is a special promo card for those that are skilled or lucky enough to win one of these events.

Finally we have the Friendly Neighbourhood Draft event, which will be a pick two draft. Each participant will get a special promo version of Ultimate Green Goblin

Star Wars Unlimited - Store Showdown

It’s time to jump to hyperspace AGAIN, and battle it out across the galaxy in our first ever Star Wars Unlimited Store Showdown.

The Store Showdown is the ultimate casual play event for Star Wars Unlimited. It is a competitive event but designed to be fun and enjoyed by players of all levels. With exclusive promos and packs on the line, this is a great way to celebrate a game that is such fun to play.

This event will have a capacity of 12 players and will be run using best of 3 SWISS rounds. There will be no top cut.

Timings:

The event will be held on Sunday 17th at 2pm and will cost £10 per player

Registration will begin from 1pm, with the event due to start at 2pm. Rounds will be 50 minutes long with a 5 minute break between rounds, and will be best of 3.

• 4-8 players - 3 swiss rounds
• 9-12 players - 4 swiss rounds

ID & Decklists:

This event requires all participants to have a Star Wars Unlimited account ID and a Melee.gg account to participate in this event. 

Decks will follow premier constructions, with exactly 1 leader, 1 base and a minimum of 50 other cards, no single card may exceed 3 copies. You may also bring a sideboard, not exceeding 10 cards. Printed Decklists are required for this event. Blank decklists can be found here.

We will be following all official comprehensive rules.

Get Promo Cards at Standard Showdown

Starting July 30, our players can earn a Cowboy Bebop promo card by winning weekly Standard Showdown events held at KD Games every Tuesday Night. These promos work just like the Omenpath Basic Lands!

There are five special promo cards, all of them traditional foil. Each of them will be distributed during specific time windows as follows, with the first promo arriving alongside Bloomburrow cards becoming standard legal.

July 30, 2024 – September 19, 2024: Ossification

September 27, 2024 – November 7, 2024: Disdainful Stroke

November 15, 2024 – January 30, 2025: Go for the Throat

February 7, 2025 – March 2, 2025: Lightning Strike

April 4, 2025 – May 29, 2025: Snakeskin Veil

MTG Thunder Junction

For those of you that are heading down to Standard Showdown this week and are wondering if you can play with your new cards?

Well the answer is ... yes!

Here is the official announcement from 2022...

"Starting with Phyrexia: All Will Be One, we're shifting our philosophy on format legality a bit—beginning February 3, when you have cards, you can play them!

Tabletop tournament legality has long been determined by the global release date. However, there has often been a tension between players receiving cards during Prerelease events and not being able to play them in sanctioned events until a week later. Additionally, digital play has not made any distinction between when cards are available and when they're tournament legal for some time.

So, we're going to make things simple: once you have your cards, you can play them!

Officially, this means that tabletop tournament legality is tied to Prerelease"

Who will be the most wanted?

 

Next Tuesday we will be running the final Standard Showdown event for the current Murders at Karlov Manor Season. As well as the usual promo items which are the choice of a full art omen path land card along with a foil prize pack for the event winner there will also be a chance to become the most wanted.

The winner of that event will become the reigning champion going into the new Outlaws of Thunder Junction Season which will stand the following week. They will get given a golden nugget spindown life counter and become the most wanted!!! 

From then any player that beats the most wanted during a match of standard play at either our FNM or Showdown events will get a golden nugget of their own. Should someone else win a showdown event they will become the new most wanted.  

Standard Showdown

The return of Standard Showdown is on its way!!!! It all begins in the February, with out first event being February 11th. More details on this event to follow in the new year.

So to kick it off in a big way—for the first weekend of Standard Showdown, our players can get their hands on two Year of the Dragon promo cards! 

For participating players, they will get a copy of Dragonlord's Servant while supplies last. Then, for the winner of our first Standard Showdown event, a special copy of Sarkhan Unbroken. 

This Saturday ...

Starting this Saturday will be 4 weeks of the MTG Standard Showdown. The event will be very similar to our FNM events except that we will be giving out very special 3 card boosters as well as booster prizes.

Prize structure will depend on the amount of players we get but if your in the top 4 you are guaranteed to get one of these very special boosters...
