There be Dragons

With the new set of Magic the Gathering being released in the next few weeks, I thought it was time to have a quick look at some of the dragons.

As you know I simply love dragons and it is nice to get a set with so many to choose from. No matter what colour you play there may well be a dragon for you ...

Silumgar, the Drifting Death Ojutai, Soul of Winter
Kolaghan, the Storm’s Fury Dromoka, the Eternal
Atarka, World Render Destructor Dragon
Shockmaw Dragon Lightning Shrieker
Noxious Dragon Mindscour Dragon
Wardscale Dragon

There are still many more card to be revealed but one of the most exciting so far has to be...

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon

Its prerelease time!

Its that time of year again when we get a brand new set from Magic the Gathering. The first release of the year will be Fate Reforged the second part of the Khans of Tarkir block.

We are running two events this time around both of which will have a maximum attendance of 20 players.

Tickets can be purchased online, at our shop in Tarmount Lance or at one of our gaming events. Once all places are taken they will be no extra space as I only have a limited amount of stock for this event.

On Saturday we will be holding the event at the Royal British Legion in the afternoon. As we are starting after lunch there will not be any food breaks between the rounds which is diffenerent to other events we have held in the past. Details of the event can be found here ...

SATURDAY - ROYAL BRITISH LEGION 1PM

On Sunday we are the Scout Hut in Vale Park. This event starts earlier at 11am and we will be breaking for lunch. Details of this event a ticket sales can be found here ...
SUNDAY - SCOUT HUT, VALE PARK 11AM

Time to Fly!

Having played a few games of the new Lords of War expansion which you add to the original Orc vs Dwarf decks I can definately say that it takes the game to a whole new level.

There are three new unit types but the one that I am really loving is...

... and in particular this card. Flying units a quite simply awesome. On first glance it only has two shield and attacks for 2 - so pretty unexciting. There is however a lot more to this card, firstly it can move in four directions which makes it really easy to get to the areas of the field where you need it. The big thing though is that it flies and this makes it a really annoying little creature.

Flying units can not take damage from attack arrows unless they are being engaged by another flyer. They do pin down enemy units however so can make a good set up card for a big kill in the next turn. They do take damage from ranged units so they will not last forever but you will probably get a few turns of fun before they fall from the sky. It also forces your opponent to commit good ranged unitts to the field on what is a low ranked card. They also take damage from magic casters but as this is likely to be just one damage you will have time to remove the trouble maker before your hawk gets turned to smoke!

I really love this seemingly innocent little card - an early game hawk can seriously mess with your opponent. I simply can't wait for elves to get some flying support!

Pokemon League

For the last year we have been running our Pokemon League as part of KD Games Night which is held at the Royal George on the Holmbush roundabout from 4pm. Attendance has been very inconsistent and although we intend to continue to offer this on Tuesdays we are also looking into an additional league on Saturdays.

This will be held in the shop at number 8 Tarmount Lane from 11am and as it is only a very small space will be for a maximum of 6 players. Jake will be running this event and it will be designed to cater for younger players particularly those that are new to the game. More details will be posted in the coming days so if your interested then watch this space.
