KD Games - Bloomburrow Store Championship

 


This Saturday at 2pm, we will be running our Bloomburrow Store Championship Event.

This will be a STANDARD format event. The number of rounds will depend on the number of players attending and each round will be the best of three games. (Time per round will be 50 mins)

The cost of the event will be £5 per player and everyone that plays will be a promotional full art Monastary Swiftspear' at the end of the event.

The top eight players will also receive a copy of 'Shark Typhoon'
The event winner will receive both of these cards along with a very special promotional copy of Urza's Saga.

Incoming - New Kill Teams

Warning, Imperial citizens! The world of Volkus is under xenos attack, but fear not – the valiant Militarum Tempestus have sent their best to keep the skies clear. Elite operatives are landing across the city, and all able-bodied commanders are required to take up the Emperor’s sword in the latest explosive boxed set for Kill Team – Hivestorm.


Kill Team: Hivestorm isn’t just a new expansion – it’s the launch of a whole new edition of Kill Team, the fast-paced game of spec ops skirmishes. Updated rules make it even easier to pit your squad of elite specialists against the best the galaxy has to offer.

For now, have a look at the first of the awesome kill teams included in Hivestorm – the Tempestus Aquilons.

Tempestus Aquilons

All Tempestus Scions are trained in the art of aerial drop deployment, but Aquilons are those units that exclusively thunder into battle on roaring grav-chutes. They are selected for their self-sufficiency, intuition, and raw aggression, which makes them ideal candidates for dangerous special operations against the enemy’s own elites.


Like their fellow Scions, Aquilons are equipped with finely wrought carapace armour and armed primarily with hot-shot las weapons – most commonly hot-shot lascarbines – that hit much harder than the standard Imperial lasgun. Their preferred strategy of dropping right into the middle of enemy lines requires intense close-quarters training, leading many units to deploy specialists armed with melta carbines, plasma carbines, and other short ranged weapons.

They’ll be putting every one of their skills to the test on Volkus, as the T’au Empire has sent waves of their own drop troopers into the fray, drawn from the ranks of their alien auxiliaries.
Vespid Stingwings

Though less widespread than the Kroot, who make up a large percentage of the T’au Empire’s auxiliaries, the Vespid are afforded no less respect by the Fire Caste due to their resilience and combat utility. They were initially introduced as small teams of support troops armed with vicious neutron blasters – short-ranged weapons that used the Vespid homeworld’s unique crystals to project deadly radiation. Their deployments have since grown to encompass a wider range of battlefield roles, and all are armed with wondrous Earth Caste inventions.


Fire Caste commanders soon discovered that Vespid made for excellent kill team operatives, matching predatory instincts with keen alien cunning, and the ability to operate for an unparalleled amount of time without resupply or assistance. Dedicated Shas’ui handlers connected to the Strain Leader’s communion helm by an MV44 Oversight Drone allow for complex strategies to be immediately relayed to the unit, leaving the job of executing their sabotage and assassination missions to the winged warriors in the field.

This prestige affords Stingwing kill teams the chance to test experimental technology, such as extremely lethal neutron grenade launchers and ghost rigs that render Shadestrains invisible, This new versatility makes the Vespid a force to be reckoned with, and a perfect opposition for the Tempestus Aquilons.

The Terrain

Volkus is a highly developed Imperial world dedicated to churning out armaments and is littered with massive hive cities nestled in between orbital defences like the skyline-dominating Massif Ballistus – the so-called Great Gun that points starward. These environments provide operatives with plenty of cover to fight over, and Kill Team: Hivestorm comes with 14 pieces of terrain that make up Killzone: Volkus, split between sprawling strongholds, bombed-out ruins, and patches of heavy and light rubble.


Many of the ruins are multi-leveled structures, giving the airborne Aquilons and Stingwings plenty of places to exercise their skills in the skies. Missions lay out these buildings in order to create myriad tactical challenges, with objectives scattered between exposed killing fields and crumbling walls.

This multipart plastic kit builds Celestian Sacresant Aveline, straight from the pages of the novel Daemonbreaker, to lead your Adepta Sororitas to victory. You can build her with or without her helmet, and she stands atop a stunning scenic base. This mini diorama would make a stunning centrepiece for any collection, and the added details make it a treat for painters.

This kit contains 22 plastic components, and 1x 50mm Round base. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.

What's the Magic: The Gathering Foundations Beginner Box?

The Beginner Box contains the essentials for your players' first games of Magic, including two different hands-on guided deck experiences, reference booklets, playmats, and Jumpstart packs for an easy way for friends to jump into the fray.

The guided deck experience is pre-shuffled, meant to be played right out of the box using the included guides to walk players step-by-step through their first game.
There are ten themes among the Jumpstart packs, and the reference guides teach players to combine themes together to create classic combinations to play with friends.

What's the Magic: The Gathering Foundations Starter Collection?

The Starter Collection holds everything players need to build their own decks—an astounding 350+ fixed set of cards, storage box, and clickwheel life counter sets the stage for players to craft decks for their favorite formats, from Standard to Commander and beyond.

White Dwarf 503 – Lore and Rules for the Leagues of Votann and Astral Templars

Incoming is the August issue of White Dwarf, and so it’s time for us to take you on a brisk tour through its pages. The Spearhead League continues at the Bunker, alongside new scenarios for Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000, and a new way to play Warhammer Underworlds using a shared deck of objectives.

The epic centrepiece of this month’s issue is an incredible 10,000-point battle report between the Tale for Four Warlords combatants, who have descended on Nova Raukus to fight a final, apocalyptic battle with the armies they’ve spent a year painting – that means two Daemon Primarchs and 25 armoured vehicles on the table. Rules for the mission they played are included, so you can try it yourself if inspired.


Warhammer 40,000 coverage continues with articles about the Leagues of Votann. Find out more about the kindreds, Guilds, Leagues and more, while new Crusade rules bring instructions for Grudges, Acquisitions, and Assets. There’s also a look at the Envoy diorama currently on display in the Warhammer World.

In Warhammer Age of Sigmar the focus is on the Astral Templars, a Stormhost of beast hunters clad in ruddy maroon armour, and covered in pelts and bone talismans. Flashpoint Moulderhunt contains Legends rules for playing the Astral Templars in an Army of Renown, alongside larger-than-life hero Hamilcar Bear-Eater. There’s fresh lore for these rough and ready champions, too, and a Rules of Engagement article giving an insight into the new approach to universal Manifestations.


There’s also an update from the battle for the Ollanz Cluster in the Horus Heresy, a look at the upcoming Boarding Actions supplement, and a treatise on the gaps in the history of Warhammer 40,000.


White Dwarf 503 is available soon, and copies will come with cards containing the scenarios of the month, 12 Warhammer Underworlds cards for use with the issue’s rules, two paint recipe cards, and two bunker cards.

Bloomburrow Trailer


 

Tonight is Bloomburrow Commander Party

What is Commander Party?

Commander Party is a special seasonal Commander event where players are immersed in the Bloomburrow setting and story. The special rules for Commander Party are designed specifically around the theme of the set, found nowhere else.

At Bloomburrow Commander Party, players choose a Party Card aligned with one of the ten groups of animal folk residing in Bloomburrow and make their way around a wheel of seasons. Some seasons bring bountiful harvest and good weather, while others, well…players will have to work creatively using their animal folk's special skills if they aim to win.

At commander party players that sign up for the on eventlink will get a special promo card (this will be available tonight and then again at our second event on August 19th)
Once the season wheel is placed and players have chosen their animalfolk, they'll follow the directions on the Play Aid:Place the Season Token on the Pyreswipe Hawk space of the Season Wheel before the game begins.

When the Season Token is put on a Calamity Beast space, its effect triggers immediately. Some spaces have ongoing effects that continue until the Season Token leaves that space.

At the beginning of a player's upkeep, they'll reference their animalfolk card, which instructs them to flip a coin. If it lands on heads, they will receive a special benefit provided by the animalfolk they aligned with. If it lands on tails, they will move the Season Token along the Season Wheel.

With that, let the Commander games commence! 


As a special bonus players will also have a chance to et some oversized Bloomburrow cards (these are subject to availability)

Blood Bowl Sevens League

This evening we stated our 2024 Bloodbowl Sevens League and 10 of our eleven teams were in action.

All teams from division one played their opening games ...

and four of the five teams from division two...

only Da Rusty Choppa's were not playing and they will start their season on Thursday.

Coming this Autumn ... Life in Reterra

Embark on a thrilling journey with our new strategy game Life in Reterra, a masterpiece born from the minds of Eric Lang and Ken Gruhl in collaboration with Hasbro Gaming

Not long from now, the world as we know it is an overgrown memory — and though the world has changed, we've changed with it, using anything we can find to build a new way of living.

Life in Reterra is a (re)building game, and it's up to each player to build a community of their own. To set up, choose one of three ready-to-play themed building sets, or put together a set of your own. Each set consists of five building cards, with associated building tiles for each card.

Each player starts with one square land tile in play. Each land tile is divided into a 2x2 grid, with one of five types of terrain in each grid space; a space might also hold a gear icon or one of four types of relics. Players also have three land tiles in hand, and five land tiles are displayed face up.

On a turn, choose a land tile from your hand or the display, then add it to your community, which can be at most four tiles on each side. When the tile has a gear, you can either place an inhabitant from the reserve on this gear or place a building tile in your community...but each part of the building must be supported by a gear and all of these gears must be on the same type of terrain.

After you have a building in play, you gain the power of the building card and can use it once on each of your subsequent turns. Maybe you can place relic tokens for additional points, place additional inhabitants, junk an opponent's relics, or score for building large sections of a terrain or having more of a building than anyone else.

Once everyone has sixteen tiles in their community, players score for what they've built, earning points for blocks of terrain of at least seven spaces, surrounded energy sources (which are a special type of tile), inhabitants, relics, and buildings.
