First Look: Wilds of Eldraine

Wilds of Eldraine returns us to the fairytale-inspired, whimsical plane of Eldraine that we know and love—this time, with a twist. As the dust from the Phyrexian invasion settles, Players will find Eldraine is afflicted with The Wicked Slumber, which has driven many of the plane's denizens into a deep sleep that no one can wake them from.

Take in the breathtaking first look at the full art lands...

With enchanting shadowbox art by Hari & Deepti, the Full-Art Showcase Basic Lands for Wilds of Eldraine capture the foreboding depths of the Wilds while capturing the whimsy present throughout the plane.

Full-Art Basic Lands may be found in Draft, Set, or Collector Boosters.

Beyond the basic lands, you will find another enchanting addition coming with Wilds of Eldraine—Enchanting Tales. Enchanting Tales brings 63 of the top Enchantment cards from Magic's history, reprinted with a fantastical frame.

More Enchanting Tales will be previewed later, but it's never too early to start getting excited. Enchanted Tales will be legal in Limited formats but will not be Standard legal.

One of the most beloved elements of Eldraine is its intrinsic tie to fairytales; the inspiration drawn from both characters and their stories touches every part of the set, from the art to the mechanics. Adventure is a returning mechanic to Wilds of Eldraine, and with it comes a Showcase Adventure frame.

Long-time Magic fans are already familiar with Borderless Art cards, but it is still exciting, especially when the cards in question feature a character that players may be interested in, such as the Planeswalker Ashiok, Wicked Manipulator.

A selection of the Enchanting Tales Bonus Sheet cards will feature alternate art in an anime-inspired art style. These cards can be found in Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters in English and Japanese. In addition, Anime Borderless Enchanting Tales cards found in Collector Boosters may have the Confetti Foil treatment—this treatment will also only be found on English and Japanese cards, and will add a shimmering sparkle to your decks.

A new kind of Conquest!

Gambit Games has been a tabletop gaming club based in the Brighton area since the late 1980's. During that time they have had many different formats from just a few friends meeting in a back room to play Warhammer to hosting mini conventions in Hove and Shoreham.

Those conventions were called 'Conquest' and although very successful could not continue due to costs and lack of time. Now Conquest is back but this time it is not a mini convention, more an expanded version of the Gambit Sunday format.

Gambit Sunday has moved to Shoreham-by-Sea and is hosted at KD Games (a full listing of event days can be found here). Conquest will be held in a larger venue and will allow the club to host tournaments, demonstrations and themed days as well as allowing a wider audience to see the various games that the club plays.

This first of these 'Conquest Sunday's' will be held on 27th August at the Crown and Anchor in Shoreham-by-Sea (which is located next to KD Games)

The event will start at 12pm and will last until 9pm. (There will also possibly be some additional things being held at KD Games from 9am)

A full list of planned activities for this day will be published soon and the entry costs will depend on what you want to do. If you just want to come along and play some games and learn more about Gambit Games then the cost will be just £5.

Tickets for this event will go on sale in the coming days so, keep an eye on the Gambit Games Facebook Page.

Gotta Find'em All

The summer holidays are almost here and hopefully it will be sunny. While you out and about (maybe playing Pokemon Go) have a look for one of our Pokemon stones.

They have been hidden somewhere around Shoreham town centre and are waiting for you to find them. If you do either take a picture and post it on the Shoreham Rocks Facebook page and then re-hide it for others to find or bring it into the shop and collect a Pokemon Prize booster.

You can get a booster every time you find one and we will hide them again for others to look for. New Pokemon will be added to the hunt each week and we will post info on Facebook when they are hidden. We will post a few hints if they are needed such as pictures of them in location or clues to where they might be.

Good luck!

Lord of the Rings Commander Party

What is the Lord of the Rings Commander Party?

Commander Party events are designed to fully immerse you in the story of the game.

At the start of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Commander Party, players will be given a Faction card, choosing to ally with one of four different races from the books: the Elves, the Hobbits, the Dwarves, or Gondor & Rohan. Each race has a special ability printed on their respective Faction card.

In addition to Faction cards, our event will have an instructional sheet, placed at the centre of each pod of four players. These cards describe a set of optional rules, where players choose to wield one of the Rings of Power for in-game advantages.

If a player chooses to wield the Elven Rings, they draw an additional card, whereas wielding the Dwarven Rings allows players to create a tapped Treasure token, and wielding the Rings of Men allows a player to create a 2/2 red Human Knight token. Of course, players may also choose to wield the One Ring, but at a greater cost.

Each category may only be used a limited number of times before that player becomes Tempted, causing them to incur an additional set of conditions that influence the game. All these details will be further explained at the Commander Party event.

Events will run over several days (starting on Thursday 20th July), so hopefully you will get a chance to represent several of the factions.

YOU'RE INVITED TO A PARTY OF GREAT IMPORTANCE—THE MAGIC CELEBRATION EVENT!

The Fellowship joins The Gathering in a whole new way this summer—and you're invited to be part of the celebration. The Magic Celebration Event will be held at KD Games this Friday and Saturday. (7th/8th July)

At the Magic Celebration Event, you (and any friends and family you bring along) will jump into an incredible experience, opening two The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ Jumpstart Boosters and playing three casual rounds of games at your store.

For those who bring along a Fellowship of their own, you and your friends will earn the Bring-a-Friend promo Thought Vessel. But that's not all: you'll want to be sure to register with your Wizards Account through the Magic: The Gathering Companion App for additional precious rewards.

What precious rewards? We're glad you asked! The first 30 players will receive one of three different collectible dice sets featuring three d6 in the same color tucked safely inside a burgundy bag with a golden Planeswalker fork.

Each of the three colors available nearly match different spindown dice you can find across other sealed products: in some Prerelease Packs, the Bundle, and the Bundle: Gift Edition, specifically.

Plus, if you're in a region where Magic: The Gathering Arena codes are valid, we're sending something special to your inboxes: a preconstructed The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth themed deck. Be sure to use the same Wizards account connected to your MTG Arena account and check your inbox starting July 25.
