Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prerelease

The first expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Scarlet & Violet Series arrives on March 31, 2023, but you can visit KD Games to start playing with it early!

Starting March 18, 2023, we will begin selling the Scarlet & Violet Build & Battle Box, giving fans a chance to have a Prerelease battle and experience the latest expansion before its official release date.

The Prerelease format allows players to compete with a 40-card deck, with four Prize cards set aside at the start of play, as opposed to a 60-card deck with six Prize cards. This format is perfect for introducing new players to the exciting world of the Pokémon TCG with quick, fun games, and it also gives seasoned players a window into all that Scarlet & Violet has to offer. Due to a limited card pool and the variance of cards that can be acquired in a Build & Battle Box, Prerelease events are also a great opportunity to flex your creative deck-building skills.

Each Build & Battle Box includes four Scarlet & Violet booster packs and a 40-card ready-to-play deck featuring key cards from the new set, as well as one of four unique foil promo cards to boost your Prerelease deck. Depending on which promo card you get, you could add the high-energy Quaquaval, electrifying Pawmot, scrappy Hawlucha, or rambunctious Revavroom. Whichever promo you do end up with, it will certainly shape your Prerelease strategy!

Our top ten board game sellers of last year - Number 7!

Last year we had one of the best years for board games sales, but what were our top ten sellers? For the next few weeks we will take the time to look at each one and give you a brief overview of the rules.

Continuing today with a new edition to the shop last and one of two games from local game designers Gunpowder Studios...

Number 7

The magical kingdom in which 7 Moons is set, is woven richly into the game, giving players an immersive experience with them at the heart of the adventure.

You play royal emissaries, sent out by your monarch into the kingdom of Dragon Reach to ready your city for war against the approaching Shadow Army.

How will you raise enough gold to strengthen your city’s defences and recruit allies to fight with you? Will you trade resources on the volatile market, hoping for a healthy profit? Will you risk venturing into the lawless wilderness for its magical riches? Or will you embark on a quest in aid of others to earn your gold?

7 Moons is an easy to learn, fun to play game of strategy, acquisition and adventure in a mythical magical land.

Gameplay includes a nice mix of mechanics – trading, questing, journeying, building and combat – to keep things interesting and give players plenty of choice as to how their adventure plays out.

The Shadow Army is a tough opponent at the end of the game, but if you’ve planned and played well, your city will be fine. Probably. Possibly.
