Halo Flashpoint League - Week One Update

Our Halo Flashpoint League started last week and we currently have 6 people taking part. Players are welcome to join at any point.

Our first week scenario was Slayer and following some exciting games the standings currently look like this ...

Jake and Kevin lead the pack on 31 points but there is still a long way to go. This week the scenario will be Oddball. This is a completely different mission to the first one and players might need to have a think about the list they wish to use. Here are the details for this scenario. (to make things a little clearer I will set up two identical boards on Tuesday and take some picture before the event)

Remember that you also get points for achieving objectives but you will need to keep a track of these during the game. (If I get time I will print out some sheets to make this a little easier)

Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease weekend

Thank you to everyone that came to one of our prereleases this weekend. The turn out was great and once again we sold out of prerelease kits. The set is beautiful and plays really well. It's great to be back in an MTG plane.

Promo Cards for Lorwyn Eclipsed

This weekend it is the prerelease for the new MTG set Lorwyn Eclipsed. This will be the first chance for players to get hold of cards for this exciting set which sees the return to one of MTG's most awaited planes.

Over the coming weeks there will be lots of opportunities to get hold of some get promo cards too, here is a list of what to look forward to.

STANDARD SHOWDOWN / FNM

Wield the magic of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor at Lorwyn Eclipsed's Standard Showdown events. Here, you can test out some new Constructed decks featuring new cards from Lorwyn Eclipsed, or you can just get some reps in with your favourite Standard creation. The winner of each Standard Showdown event will receive a traditional foil, retro frame Nowhere to Run promo card featuring art by Jodie Muir while supplies last. We combine our Showdown event with our FNM so it is also when players can get hold of the new prize packs which are awarded to the top four players each week.

LORWYN COMMANDER PARTY

The shifting landscape of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor is as chaotic as it is breathtaking. Adapt to the changing duality of the plane at Lorwyn Eclipsed's Commander Party events! Here, you'll play a modified game of Commander, so bring your own decks or try out one of the Lorwyn Eclipsed preconstructed Commander decks.

You're not just battling your three opponents; you're also battling the frenetic nature of the plane. You'll start the game on Lorwyn. As the game progresses, you'll roll dice to trigger chaotic effects and shift from Lorwyn to Shadowmoor (and vice versa). When you switch to another aspect of the plane, you'll also swap to a separate hand of cards. After all, transforming into your Lorwyn or Shadowmoor self often means losing your memories.

Participants who embrace the nature of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor at Commander Party events will receive the retro frame Farhaven Elf promo card while supplies last. More details to follow on the commander party events closer the time.

STORE CHAMPIONSHIP

Bring your best deck and your fiercest competitive spirit to the table for your local game store's Store Championships! These events feature high-stakes Standard gameplay, where your community's top players will compete for some of the season's most stunning promo cards.

Store Championship participants will receive a non-foil, full-art Goblin Bombardment promo card with art by Jeff Laubenstein while supplies last. Look at that boggart; they're having a great time.

Lord of the Rings Trick Taking Game - The Two Towers

"The journey continues in the magical world of Middle-earth in The Two Towers: Trick-Taking Game, a narrative-driven co-operative card game that lets players take on the roles of heroes and villains in Tolkien's legendary work, The Two Towers. This standalone game follows 2025's The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick-Taking Game with chapters 19-36 of gameplay. The chapters can be played in any order and playing the earlier game isn't required, but ideally you play them in sequence.

In each chapter, each player takes a different character role and each character has a condition that must be met in order to pass the chapter and advance in the story. As you advance through the chapters, new characters, items, and challenges are introduced to the game. The One Ring is the game's only trump card, but initially rings can't be led until someone plays one off-suit.

In the two-player game, one hand of cards is dealt to a dummy player, with some cards being face up and others face down. This dummy is assigned a character, and one of the human players will play cards for it based on which cards are free to be played.

In the solitaire game, one player plays four hands of face-up cards, with each hand being assigned a character and only a few cards being available at a time. After you play a trick, deal each hand a new card."
