MTG End of Year Tournament

The time has finally come to invite players to the KD Games/Gambit Games end of year grand tournament! This year we will be inviting 16 players, allowing that up to 4 can not come, meaning there will still be a minimum of 12! If some players can not attend then I will invite the next players on the rankings!

Since January 2016 we have had a total of 61 players attend one of our events which include prereleases, launch parties, game days, junior competitions and of course KD Magic Nights (Friday Night Magic)! There have been over 72 different events of various formats and types!

Firstly last years champion will get a chance to come back and defend his title,so Michael Pike is the first on the list!

Our winner from gaming convention 'CONQUEST' is automatically invited which was Mike and he is already on the list so moving on...

Also included will be the player who has scored the highest average in all the events they have played in this year (they must have played in at least 5 events) which is Michael Pike with an impressive 8,77! As he is already on the list we moved down the highest average scores to the next player not already invited which will be Elliott Miles at 7.2!

THE TOP RANKED PLAYER OF 2016 WAS NICK MURPHY CUNNINGHAM so will get the next place.

Finally we then add in the top 13 ranked players not including those already selected to take the total to 16 players which are:

Paul DaVall, Isaac Howie-Brewerton, Ivan Miles, Jack Minter, Grant David, Alex Tynemouth, Andrew Broomfield, Marc Le Cras, Faron Young, David Saunders, Aiden Wilson, Leo Wolton and Jordan Morris.

All players will receive an invite in the next day or so via facebook and I would ask that you please reply as soon as possible as if you can not attend then I can invite the next players on the list!

The Grand Tournament will be held on Sunday 8th January (as part of our first Gambit Sunday) starting at 1pm and finishing at 9pm.

The event will consist of 2 rounds of STANDARD and 1 of MODERN then a break followed by a draft lasting 3 rounds.

Entry to the event will cost £13 (£4 for Gambit Games and £9 to cover the Kaladesh draft)

The winner will the highest scoring player accross all 6 rounds.

Good luck to everyone that has qualified and I hope that you can make it to fight for the right of being the 2016 Gambit Grand Master!

Friday Afternoon Magic

Starting this Friday we will be running weekly Friday Afternoon Magic which is a special variant of Friday Night Magic which is for under 16's.

We will be starting at 4pm and running until 7pm when the normal FNM events are due to start. (Some players that currently attend the normal FNM with their parents will be able to attend both the afternoon event and the evening event.)

The plan is for both events to run on the same schedule (one week standard and one week modern). As this is the first time we have run this type of event with the junior players we will be starting with Modern which is a easier format for players to prepare for. This will mean two weeks of Modern before the have a Standard event. This also means that the first Standard event will be after the Prerelease for the new set, which will be an ideal oportunity for players to get some new standard legal cards. (There will also be a prerelease event which is designed for the younger players - more details to follow later this week)

The cost for this event will be NOTHING, thats right it will be completely free. There will be FNM promo cards for the top 3 each week as well as a booster for the winner. (KD points will be awarded, which will count towards the end of year tournament in January 2018)

There will be up to three rounds of best of three with a maximum time limit of 45 minutes.

Facebook events will be created each week, please confirm your attendance or let me know in the shop that you are planning to come.

There will be a small selection of decks available for players to borrow each week for the required format if they do not have a legal deck.

Walking Dead - All out War

The Walking Dead: All Out War is a tactical head-to-head game set in the walker-strewn Georgia countryside, a survival miniatures game from Mantic Games based on the characters from the pages of the bestselling The Walking Dead comic series. Your group will be pitted against other groups in a bitter fight for supplies, but the Walkers react to your every move. In this game, everyone and everything is trying to kill you.

In more detail, each player controls their own group of survivors made up of popular characters from The Walking Dead storyline, such as Rick, Shane, Michonne and many more. Each survivor is represented by a finely-detailed plastic miniature, which can be painted in your color scheme of choice. It comes with a character card highlighting their game stats and unique abilities, and it can be upgraded with a selection of weapon and equipment cards.

The game is set around Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs, and contains a gaming mat and a selection of barricades, abandoned cars and supplies to give it that authentic The Walking Deadatmosphere. Your survivors move across the board using the measuring stick included with the game, and you use the terrain to block Walker routes, sneak up on opposing survivors, or raid enemy camps for supplies.

During the game, you fight a bitter battle for resources against a rival group of survivors – but be careful not to make too much noise as you'll draw the attention of the Walkers, which are controlled by an AI system developed specifically for this game. They attack anyone who comes within reach — and because they are AI-controlled, you can play the game solo.

The base game includes rules for running simple campaigns and basic guidelines for designing your own characters.
