Global Series: Jiang Yanggu & Mu Yangling is just a few weeks away: the multiverse's two newest planeswalkers are set to land in your store on June 22.
Here's what you need to know:
1. It's an introductory product, designed with Chinese audiences in mind.
Flavor-wise, it's a whole new branch of Magic story, conceived by a team of Chinese artists, writers, and folklorists, rooted in Chinese aesthetics and mythology. Gameplay-wise, think Planeswalker Deck. It's an introductory product, and the complexity level is set accordingly.
Here's Heavenly Qilin, a pretty good representation of both the flavor and the complexity level:
2. There are 2 new planeswalkers.
The two 60-card decks introduce Jiang Yanggu and Mu Yangling to the multiverse.
Jiang Yanggu wanders the world accompanied by his faithful companion, Mowu, searching for clues to a past he can’t remember. Mu Yangling, an enigmatic storm mage, remembers her tragic past all too clearly but will never give up hope of saving those she loves.
When their paths collide on a sacred magical mountain, they realize they both may be caught up in a greater mystery than they ever imagined.

3. New cards are Standard-legal only in China.
There's a ton of new cards beyond the new walkers. Mechanically, you've seen a lot of this content before, but the art, flavor text, card names have a voice all their own.
Because it's meant as an entry point for new players in China, it's crucial that the cards be Standard-legal, but they really only need be legal in that specific market. (Otherwise, legality works just like Duel Decks or Commander: legal in Legacy, Vintage, and Commander.)
Think of it like the unique cards in Planeswalker Decks. There isn't much chance they'll make a splash at your next PPTQ, but they still need to be safe for FNM—it would be a lousy experience to make your first purchase, only to find out that you can't play all your new cards.
That's all there is to it! Global Series: Jiang Yanggu & Mu Yangling releases June 22. Take a look at the full deck lists here, then call your distributor to place your preorder.
