Catan Championship 2025

 

KD Games Shoreham is hosting an official CATAN United States National Championship Qualifier Tournament.

Tournament cost is £5. Players should register at the External Link (store website) or contact the store.

The Qualifier Winner will win a guaranteed seat at the 2025 CATAN United Kingdom National Championship Tournament, taking place during UK Games Expo in Birmingham from Friday 30 May - Sunday 1 Jun 2025.

Yu-Gi-Oh Supreme Darkness Booster - Release Date 24th January 25

Supreme King Jaden’s “Evil HERO” monsters are back in a big way! Evil versions of Elemental HEROes Bubbleman and Prisma are coming, and the Supreme King’s new version of Neos, which has the power to take over your opponent’s monsters! There are plenty of “Evil HERO” Fusion Monsters to choose from, and this set adds even more, plus new support cards to make it easier than ever.

If you’re looking for something in the fast lane, it’s time to speed back into action with new “Speedroid” cards that make Synchro Summoning a breeze! Fans of Synchro Summoning can also grab new “Crystron” monsters, including a new Synchro Monster. Keep an eye out for a new Level 2 Tuner that can Special Summon a “Crystron” anytime your opponent activates an effect, then you can immediately perform a Synchro Summon!

And an all-new theme that are the masters of bouncing around the field makes its grand debut in Supreme Darkness. This Deck works by placing its Continuous Trap Monsters straight into your Spell and Trap Zone. As face-up Continuous Traps, they give constant buffs to all your Warrior monsters. But when you want, these Trap Cards can spring to life as Warrior monsters themselves, then bounce back to the safety of the Spell and Trap Zone when things get too hectic, ready to pop out again when the time is right.

Yu-Gi-Oh Supreme Darkness Sneak Peak

This weekend we will be running a Yu-Gi-Oh Prerelease event. It will be held in the shop at 7pm on Friday 17th April and should last around 3 hours. The event will cost £20 and will be a five pack draft event. The packs will be from the new set Supreme Darkness. The event will be a draft event.

A Draft Format is where players sit at tables in a group of 4-8 players, depending on the number participating, with an equal number of unopened booster packs each. (in this case 5). When instructed by the Tournament Organizer, each player picks up 1 of their booster packs and opens it, then takes 1 of the cards and sets it face down in front of them to start a pile. After that, they pass the remaining cards to the left or right, dictated by the Tournament Organizer, pick up the cards passed to them by the player on their other side and select another card. This continues until all of the cards from each player's pack have been selected. Then each player opens the next pack and repeats, passing the cards in the opposite direction. Once all packs have been used up, players construct Decks on their own using only the cards they've selected.

When doing a Booster Draft, the following rules apply:

• Players may not trade cards pulled in the Booster Draft until the tournament is over.
• Decks must have a minimum of 20 cards. Maximum Deck size is only limited by the number of cards a player drafted.
• Decks may contain more than 3 cards of the same name.
• The Forbidden and Limited Lists used by the Advanced Format and Traditional Format are ignored.
• Extra Decks can contain any number of Extra Deck monsters.
• Any cards not used in a player's Main Deck or Extra Deck are placed in their Side Deck, which has no maximum.

What is TNT?

Obviously it is an explosive, but here at KD Games it is also the title of our Tuesday Night Thing/Tournament.

People are always free to come along on Tuesday night to play any tabletop games, but in addition to this we will be running some special league events, most of which will be free to enter.

The calendar of events I have in mind for this year looks like this (obviously this may change if thing over run or an event is unpopular)

TNT - Halo Flash Point League

Our first 'Tuesday Night Thing' of 2025 will be ...

Starting on Tuesday 14th the schedule will look like this ...

21st January - Scenario 1 : Slayer (8 kills) 
28th January - Scenario 2 : Oddball
4th February - Scenario 3 : Capture the Flag
11th February - Scenario 4 : Stongholds
18th February - Scenario 5 : Stockpile

This will be a free to enter event, and we have a limited amount of teams/scenery/dice, etc available. Where possible players are encouraged bring there own models, etc. In the first session on 14th January we will assign teams from our models on a first come basis. (We have got plenty of stock for anyone that wants to buy there own kit)

We will have the opportunity to teach new people how to play and a change to practice with their teams ready for the first scenario. We can also teach the game this Sunday as part of our Gambit Games event.

Each week players will score 3 league points for a win, 1 for a draw and nothing for a loss. We will also record VP for the game played and also the number of kills, which will be used in the event of a tie.

Players do not have to take part each week, but the more you play the more you can score.

League updates will be posted after each week on our blog and discord server.

At the end of the League the winner will receive a certificate and a box of Halo Flashpoint Dice.

White Dwarf 508 – Break the siege on Lethis and prepare for more daring solo Kill Team missions

We’re heading into 2025, which means another year full of fantastic Warhammer releases, with Death Korps of Krieg, the enigmatic Aeldari, and maniacal Gloomspite Gitz all getting ready to make their mark. Ready for Catan 6th Edition?

CATAN'S 6TH EDITION WILL BE RELEASED IN 2025!

The latest release for CATAN comes thirty years after the introduction of the original game from Klaus Teuber.

While CATAN's 6th edition maintains its essential mechanics, many of the game's creative components have been re-envisioned to provide additional ease and functionality. 

The game's rulebook now features more imagery, and easy graphic examples that simplify the learning process.

The game also features revamped art, from updated packaging to enhanced game components. The new premium square format box is finished with updated lid art, which paints a richer picture of the settings, immersing the player in the adventure they are about to embark on.

With over 45 million global units sold to date in over 100 markets, CATAN has made its mark on the world of board games. First published 1995 in Germany, the game has seen five previous iterations.

As part of the new edition, the following popular expansions will be released in 2025: Seafarers, Cities & Knights and later Traders & Barbarians as well as Explorers & Pirates. In addition all 5-6 player extensions for these games will be released as well.

Lorcana Championship

 

Our first Lorcana Championship has arrived, and this time it is to celebrate Lorcana's sixth set - Azurite Sea.

This event will have a capacity of 16 players and will be run using SWISS with a top cut. The event requires a minimum of 8 players to fire.

The top performing Illumineers at each Championship earn exclusive prizes.

Timings:

Registration will begin from 1pm, with the event due to start at 2pm. Rounds will be 55 minutes long with a 5 minute break between rounds, and will be best of 2. If we have a top cut then these will be best of 3 lasting 70 minutes.

8 players - 3 swiss rounds, no top cut

9-16 players - 4 swiss rounds, cut to top 4

This event requires all participants to have a Melee account to participate in this event. Please ensure you have both your melee username and email address to hand when registering on the day of the event.

Decks will follow Core Constructed rules, 60 card minimum, 2 ink maximum, no sideboard.

Deck lists, and checks will be running at this event. To make things easier we do ask that a Deck List is printed and filled out, please find the form online HERE.

Personal Belongings & Spectators:

We have limited space for this event. Please do not bring excess personal belongings, we do not have any storage facilities. There will not be space available for spectators at this event.
