Helionox

Helionox: The Last Sunset is a deck-building strategy game set in the distant future. Players compete for “influence” by obtaining powerful technology and operatives, overcoming social and environmental events, and establishing embassies on a variety of different worlds. On their turn, players purchase cards from the market with “credits” and integrate these cards into their deck for use later in the game. Players can also choose to overcome one or more of the disastrous events spreading across the human colonies by spending “defense” points gained by the cards that they purchase. Players continue building increasingly powerful combinations of cards to acquire influence points on subsequent turns. But time is limited! Once the last card of the “event deck” is played, the game is over. The player with the most influence at the end wins.

Vs System

In Vs. System 2PCG, players choose a main character, build a deck with exactly sixty cards, and attempt to stun the other player's Main Character in a game of superhero battle. The first set contains characters only from the Marvel Universe, but future sets may add other IPs.
Vs. System 2PCG is superficially similar to the original Vs. System collectible card game, but is a completely rebuilt game that takes some inspiration from the original. Combat has been streamlined, the turn structure is different, the resource system has been revamped, and the game is no longer collectible, with cards instead being released in a non-random format. A single box contains a full play-set of all cards.

D&D Dice Masters

With the new Dice Masters D&D set due in the next few weeks I thought it was time to have a look at what we can expect.

As normal there will be a new starter, new boosters and a new collectors box...

There are also likely to be new playmats, dice bags and team boxes but as yet I have not seen images of these.

This week sent a link to the Dice Tower review of the new set which shows some of the dice and new cards and is worth a look...

There are some really nice mechanics in this set and I am particularly keen to see the anti breath weapon ability. Is anyone else really excited about this set? What are you looking forward to the most?

Clash of Wills FNM February Promo

Magic has a storied history all the way back to the Alpha release of counter magic coming from Blue mages. Clash of Wills follows in the same vein as the classic Power Sink, much like Broken Ambitions or Condescend have also filled that role previously. More recently we’ve seen Syncopate used as that necessary turn two counter, which scales up later in the game unlike other ‘unless its controller pays’ counters like Mana Leak.

The art is truly stunning with that pose of Jace in a skirmish with an Eldrazi by relative newcomer Anna Steinbauer. This scene really is miles beyond the original art of Jace locked in the battle of will against Alhammarret.

Star Trek 5 Year Mission

New in next week is ...

You are about to begin your 5-year mission aboard the USS Enterprise. But which one? You can crew the classic Enterprise NCC-1701 or the next generation NCC 1701-D.

ALERT! You and your fellow crew mates must cooperate to resolve dangerous situations that threaten to destroy your ship. If you fail, you all lose. Solving threats is the way you score points for your crew and win the game.

Each crewmate has a unique ability. These abilities can help the team solve alerts. Use your skills wisely to give your crew the best chance at success.

So, which is the crew for you—The Original Series, or the Next Generation?

Minimum Players: 3
Maximum Players: 7
Minimum Time: 30
Maximum Time: 45
Minimum Age: 10

It look pretty cool, especially if like me you are a Star Trek fan. Here is the Dice Tower review from Youtube which shows the basic mechanic and a brief review of the game ...

Sneak Peak

Friday night at the Royal British Legion in Shoreham we will be holding ...

The registration for the event will open at 6:30pm and I hope to get things started by 7:00pm at the latest!

The cost will be £17 as normal and for those who have not been before the format will be as follows....

Players will use he six boosters to 'draft' a deck to play in three rounds of a 'swiss' tournament o find the sneak peak champion!

There is an important change for drafts in regards to Legion Cards which is ...

"If a fighter opens a Legion Rare, that fighter may ask for a judge to verify it. If it is verified, each player chooses the trigger unit, as well as two other cards, and places them face down."

Other rules remain the same, if you are new to the process here is how it works...

What is Booster Draft Booster Draft?

Booster Draft is a method of play which involves purchasing, opening and building a deck straight away for a game!

Fighters open the packs and choose a card he or she would like to use in a predetermined order (this is known as a “draft”), and decks are built right there and then!

With this unique style, fighters get to experience the thrill of selecting cards, and the joy of playing with a different deck every time!

How to do a Draft?

1. Decide on the seating arrangement around the table with a random method.

2. Each person will open one pack, and check the cards inside that pack.

3. Choose a card and place it face down in front of you. (On you first pick for a pack you will take a trigger unit and one other card) Fighters may not peek at the face down cards.

4. Once everyone has chosen their cards, all fighters will pass the rest of the cards in hand to the person on the left, in a clockwise direction.

5. With the cards received from the fighter on the right, choose a card and place it face down. Once everyone is done, pass the rest of the cards in hand to the left again. Repeat until all the cards have been taken.

6. Between the third and fourth pack, you may check your own face down cards.

Starting from the fourth pack, pass the cards in hand to the person on your
right(anti-clockwise).

7. Once all 6 packs have been opened and passed around, the draft ends. The fight will now begin with the 30 cards chosen and formed as a deck!

Deck building

1. The 30 chosen cards becomes your deck.

2. The rules which restrict only 4 of the same card, as well as only 4 heal triggers in a deck do not apply here.

Game conditions

The basic rules of Cardfight!! Vanguard can be found here:

http://cf-vanguard.com/en/howto/

The rules of a normal cardfight apply, but with the addition of a special rule:

“During a trigger check, if a vanguard or rear-guard of the same clan as the trigger unit is not present on the field, the trigger effects will still activate.”

Therefore, please ignore the clans of the trigger units when choosing cards to build your deck

The new Chandra

Today we had our first games with the new MTG set Oath of the Gate watch. For me one of the highlight cards was the new Chandra.

Chandra, Flamecaller
4RR
+1: Put two 3/1 red Elemental creature tokens with haste onto the battlefield. Exile them at the beginning of the next end step.
0: Discard all the cards in your hand, then draw that many cards plus one.
-X: Chandra, Flamecaller deals X damage to each creature.
Loyalty: 4
The card is a little different to other versions but is the 4 loyalty counters to low?

(+1) This is clearly a very aggro-ability. two 3/1, temporary haste attackers + loyality each turn is quite much. Unfortunatelly These Tokens can not be utilized to block. So dont consider this a defensive ability.

(0) That one is an awesome way to constantly get fresh supply. Dont Need lands & manadorks ? Here, take 3 more Cards. i hope you get something to defend me & or finish !

(-X) What i love about this ability the most is, that instead of an Ultimate, its further Utility. & very Needed one at that ! 6 Mana sometimes is too late, but this one can save the day.

Shes quite a utility-package. She can go aggro. She can refuel your Hand & she can mass-kill the board. My only concern with her, is that shes kinda weak against bigger craetures. But in that case, you can adapt your Deck with appropriate spells to mitigate her weakness. What i personally love the most about her, is that she truly has 3 abilities.

All in all a great Planeswalker, but that's just my opinion. What is yours?
