Warhammer Conquest

As I still have the Summer 2015 Warhammer Conquest kit which we intended to run last weekend, I have decided to run a tournament on Tuesday 6th October as part of KD Games Night.


Time: 4pm registration opens, 7pm start

Prizes will be as follows:
1st- 2015 summer champion Playmat
1st-2nd: Alternate art Zarathur, High Sorcerer
1st-4th: Chaos deck box
ALL Participants: Alternate art Fire Warrior

There will be no extra cost to enter this tournament other than the usual entrance fee for KD Games Night. 

This week we will playing some practice matches and running some demos, so if you fancy a chance next week then why not have a go this week, learn the rules, get some practice games in and then who know maybe next Tuesday you walk away with a play mat - what have you got to lose?

Star Wars Risk - The Black Series

Dice Masters Rainbow Draft

This weekend we had hoped to run a Dice Masters Rainbow Draft, but unfortunately due to a problem with the delivery we have had to delay the two event until this week. I am hoping to do one tomorrow and one at Conquest (on the Friday)

There will be a Marvel event which will be with boosters from Uncanny Xmen and Age of Ultron (6 of each). The prices for this event will be...

How it works:

Each player should come to the event with 8 Sidekick Dice, 12 Basic Action Dice, 4 Indicator Cards, and 2 Basic Action Cards (players may choose which Basic Action Cards they’d like to use after completing the draft, but must use the same two throughout the event).

Each player in the draft sits down with 12 packs of Dice Masters to draft with. A set of six packs is opened. As each player opens their packs they should verify that the cards and dice match. Keeping their cards secret, players should set them aside into a pile of 12 cards. The next six packs are opened and when complete are placed into a separate pile of 12 cards in front of the player (the piles are not to be mixed). All dice are placed into the center, and arranged as below so players can see exactly which dice and how many of each will be available during the draft. We call it Rainbow Draft as players may elect to sort them by color to allow for easier visual spotting of which cards correspond to which dice during the draft.


Each player then takes the deck they most recently prepared and after a short amount of time to review the cards, they select one, setting it face down in front of them, and passing the remaining cards to the player to their right. This card begins a pile of cards that players will be able to use in their team. After all players have selected a card, they take the pile from their left to select their next card and repeat the process until they are passed a single card to be placed into their pile.

After the first stack of 12 cards have been depleted, players should take a moment to review the cards they drafted (each player should have 12 cards at this point). After reviewing their cards, players will return them to a face-down pile in front of them and draft the second pack the same way as they did the first, this time passing in the opposite direction (left).

After drafting all packs, players should take dice from those that were set aside to match each of their cards. They will then construct a tournament team based on the Basic Action Cards they own and the cards they drafted. This tournament team can have up to eight cards and up to 20 dice across those cards (many teams will have less than this). The Basic Action Dice and cards and Sidekick Dice do not count against this limit of eight cards and 20 dice.

Not Open Next Weekend

KD games will not be open next weekend because we will be at CONQEST!!! We will have a selection of products to sell but as the shop is so close if there is anything we have left behind that you want let us know and we will arrange to go and get it.

In addition we will also be demonstrating a couple of really great games. Firstly there is the new Magic the Gathering board game which at just £30 offers really great a value for money...

A great game that's easy to learn and only £30:

It is a really simple game to learn and as it is played to a set number of turns will not take up a whole afternoon. 

Next is a game that I am really enjoying which may well have something to do with the subject matter. Firefly the Shiny Dice game is .. well Shiny!

Demos available at Conquest:

This game is for 1-5 players. Yes that's right you can play this one by yourself and try and beat your personal best. All you favorite characters are here and the mission cards bring back some great memories of the series.

MTG the Board Game

So tonight I had a first play through for the new MTG board game. After what was a slow start and some rules reading and re-reading I played a game that I found to be simple to learn, quite enjoyable to play and seems to have potential for a level of game play that is more complex than it originally seems.

I thought the it would be worth posting a demo video, so I have had a look through Youtube to see what I can find ...


We will be demoing this game at CONQUEST, if you fancy a run through it will take about 30/45 minutes.

MTG at CONQUEST

With only two weeks to go until CONQUEST, I am sure most MTG players are looking forward to the Prerelease of Battle for Zendikar.

The prerelease will certainly be a very exciting event and it is always great to see the new cards but for those who like constructed event there is also the MTG 'Standard' event which starts at 6:30pm (to allow the prerelease to finish first).

It will be much like a Friday Night Magic event but with added prize support. Every player that takes part will add boosters to the prize pool. The winner will of course be our CONQUEST champion but in addition this year will get this great playmat ...

Legendary Encounters


Legendary Encounters: A Predator Deck Building Gameis based on the first two movies of the Predator series. Taking on the roles of characters from the films, players take turns recruiting cards for their deck from a central selection in order to improve their deck and defeat Predator cards that are added to the central game board.
In more detail, within the setting for each film you can play as the humans or as the Predators. As the humans, you play the co-op version of the game as in Legendary Encounters: Alien, recruiting, scanning and attacking the same way while trying to achieve objectives. When you play as the Predators, the game is player vs. player instead of co-op, with each player assuming the role of a Predator hunting for the most honor (VPs).
Legendary Encounters: A Predator Deck Building Game is a standalone game in the Legendary Encounters series that is fully compatible with Legendary Encounters: An Alien Deck Building Game. Specifically, you can use the Predator deck in Alien or the Alien deck in Predator. Similarly, Predator is also compatible with the Marvel superheroes version of Legendary but cannot be fully integrated.

New Firefly : Shiny Dice

Firefly: Shiny Dice lasts three rounds, and whoever has the most points after three rounds wins. In each round, each player takes one or more turns. On your first turn in a round, you roll all fifteen dice — seven crew dice (brown), three passenger dice (white), and five bad guy dice (black) — then place them in the appropriate places on your display. Crew members and passengers all have unique abilities, some of which involve the option of rerolling dice.
After any rerolls, you reveal your mission for the round. If you have dice on your board that match the numbers given at the top of the mission, then you're unaffected by the bold line — Bushwhacked, Gorram, etc. — immediately underneath. Otherwise, you might be forced to end your go after the current turn, forced to take an additional turn, or affected in some other way. After revealing and resolving the mission, the bad guys strike:
  • Each Badger die holds one supply die.
  • Each Saffron die moves a crew/passenger die of your choice to the cargo hold.
  • If Niska dice are present, KO a crew/passenger die of your choice.
After this, you then use any remaining crew and passenger dice to defeat the bad guys, which generally require one point of damage to defeat. Remove them all, and you score 1 VP for each type of bad guy defeated, with half-points for each supply delivered; fail to remove them, and you score no points for the defeated bad guys. If you clear the turn, you can opt to take another turn — rolling all the bad guy dice and all non-KOed crew and passenger dice — or end your turn. If you opt to continue, but then fail to defeat the bad guys, you lose all the VP that you earned previously on that turn.
After three rounds, whoever has the most VPs wins.
